Day 8

I’m thankful for books.

I love reading.  Always have. It’s the perfect pastime for someone who likes to spend time alone.  In the last couple of years, I had stopped reading as much.  Life kept getting in the way.  I made a goal at the end of 2012 to get back on track by reading at least 24 books in 2013.  Well I have hit my goal already.  I think I’m up to 27 books right now.

In the last 2 weeks I have read:

  1. Before I Go to Sleep (SJ Watson)  (I recommend this one if you like mysteries)
  2. Prep (Curtis Sittenfeld) (I’m glad I read it, but wouldn’t read it again.)
  3. Darkness & Shadows (Andrew Kaufman) (it was okay)
  4. 13 Reasons Why (Jay Asher) (kind of hated it)

I’m reading an actual paperback right now, which I borrowed from a friend.  It feels weird to hold a book in my hands.  I’ve gotten so used to reading on my Kindle.  Currently reading: Dark Hollow by Brian Keene.  It’s horror. It’s a re-read for me so that I can then read the sequel for the first time.

Recommendations are always welcome. I love horror, science fiction, mysteries, and historical fiction.

The goal for 2014 will be 36 books. ❤

30 Days of Thanks. DAY 4.

I’m thankful for my little sister, Krystal.

Today is her 30th birthday.  I cannot believe she’s actually 30. I feel so old.  I’m four years older than her, and that always seemed like such a big deal before, but suddenly it seems like nothing.  We are both in our 30s. Crazy.

My sister is the only person in my immediate family that really gets me, and I love her like crazy.  She has been there with me through a lot of fucked up shit.  She was a rock for me during my cancer treatment. She’s a generous, beautiful, funny, bad ass bitch, and I love her.

Happy birthday, sis. All the love and hugs for you on your special day.  Welcome to your 30s. They rock.
