movie marathon

I’m having a movie marathon day.

So far I have watched:

  1. Ghostbusters (with Jax)
  2. Beetlejuice (with Jax)
  3. The Lazarus Effect
  4. Halloween (the remake) (holy shit that movie is fucked up)
  5. The Descent (one of my faves)

I’m taking a break for trick-or-treating, obviously, but what should I watch when I get home (and after Jackson goes to bed)? Right now I’m thinking about 28 Days Later, which I love, or maybe The Conjuring and/or Annabelle. Ooh or maybe Drag Me To Hell.  I prefer haunting/possession movies to slasher flicks. Suggestions?

**happy new year**

  • First post of 2015! I couldn’t skip blogging today. That would just be wrong.
  • I’ve noticed that a lot of inactive blogs have started posting again recently.  There’s just something about the start of a new year that gets people motivated. I like it.
  • I read an article recently that described a study in which people read old diary/blog entries that were rather mundane…just day to day I did this, I did that type of stuff. According to the study, people experienced a surprising amount of joy in going back and reading that stuff. I have always found that to be the case, which is why I will sometimes force myself to blog/journal even when I don’t have anything particularly interesting to say.  I read old entries fairly often.
  • Today was a productive start to the new year. I got some cleaning done.  The Christmas tree and decorations have been banished to the storage closet. I got some packing done. Spent quality time with the kid, and I have also been doing a bunch of reading.
  • The book I’m reading right now is so amazing that I’m having a difficult time putting it down.  It’s so beautifully written and just completely captivating.  I have teared up several times in the first 200 pages.  I haven’t felt this way about a book since One Hundred Years of Solitude. I’m thinking it will be a new favorite. If you like historical fiction and/or World War II era novels, I highly recommend it.  All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.
  • Oh and the bf and I watched The Interview last night. I highly recommend that as well. We thought it was hilarious.
  • I found my knitting stuff while I was packing up one of the closets. I’m going to give that a go again, I think.
  • I’ve officially known my boyfriend for three years now, and he had the best time making fun of me yesterday for all of my, “Three years ago we were…” type comments. I’m a very sentimental (read that as: sappy) person.  I can’t help it.  It’s just still so strange to me what a difference three years can make.

she will have her way

  1. The weather was beautiful today. I went for a four mile run/walk in the park. I want it to stay this way forever.
  2. The Parenthood marathon is ongoing. I’m almost done with season 1. Oh the tears.
  3. I took a break from Netflix to go visit with Danielle. We watched Insidious 2. It was creepy.  Watching horror with her is hilarious. She hides under the blankets and whimpers. I don’t know why she tortures herself in this way.
  4. I’m working on a budget. I hate it, but it’s necessary.
  5. I’m also figuring out an exercise schedule.
  6. I’m not sure how I feel about TWD finale. I thought the last line was totally lame.
  7. I have one day of vacation left. I’ve really enjoyed my time off. I needed this break.

i want to be the girl with the most cake

I suck at responding to your messages & emails. I’m sorry. I’m trying, but I’m tired, forgetful, and busy. Just know that I love you.

Jackson is on spring break this week. We just hung out around the apartment this afternoon.  This gave me a chance to do some reading. I’m currently reading Breast Left Unsaid: A True and Uncensored Story of Survival. I wasn’t too sure about it at first, but I’m about halfway through and it is hitting very close to home.  All of these feelings have arisen. I feel like I could have written this story, and sometimes I wonder if I should give it a go.

I’m currently writing a pros & cons list regarding moving back to the county.  I’ve also made some inquiries regarding a couple of places in the Chesterfield/Creve Coeur areas. I’m honestly torn about what to do.  The weather was really nice on Saturday, which makes the decision process so much harder. It was easy to get down on city living in the winter.  But this weekend, Dave and I went for a run in Forest Park, and then we walked to O’Shay’s and Urban Chestnut. It was so much fun, and a big part of me wants another year here.  AHHH.

I’m thinking of trying Bikram yoga this week. I’ve heard good things, and I’m intrigued. I’m ready to try something new.  I’m trying to decide which studio to check out.

I’m behind on my tv shows. I need to get caught up with TWD before I see anymore spoilers.  Plus, Scott is freaking out b/c he wants to chat about it, and I’m two weeks behind.

Our betta fish, Nemo, is dying. I’m sad about it.

I’m thinking about doing this challenge. I think it’s cute.

This weekend the bf and I watched 12 Years A Slave and Dallas Buyers Club.  I enjoyed both, but 12 Years was incredible and heartbreaking. You should see it.
