monday: by the bullets

  • I woke up this morning and decided to take the day off, because fuck Monday that’s why.
  • After dropping Jackson off at school, I took a 15 minute nap, and then went for a two mile run. It sucked. It was way too humid. I felt like I was breathing water. My original plan was at least 5k. Oh well. It still counts as run #1 of 3 for the week.
  • My oncologist’s assistant called to reschedule our appointment to next week. *oh darn*
  • I updated my blog theme.  It’s cute.
  • I finished a book. Help For The Haunted (#40). I liked it.
  • I started The Tender Bar (#41), which was sent to me by the lovely karaisafourletterword.
  • Did some online shopping. I’m in the market for a cute new hat.  Also, I want this dress from Modcloth.
  • Went to the grocery store without make-up or a bra. It was liberating.
  • Picked up my kiddo.
  • Made a real dinner (mmm.. tacos) and drank a Contact HIgh.
  • I made an appointment for next Tuesday with a tattoo artist downtown. It’s time to get moving on my breast tattoos. So excited!
  • Fell asleep on the couch while watching a show with Jackson.
  • Now I’m eating some Starbursts that I bought today, which are super stale (very hard) and I’m pissed as fuck. Way to ruin my dessert, Starbursts.
  • I’m in bed already. It’s not even nine. Zero fucks. My body is weary.
  • I’m ready to take on Tuesday. I suppose I should go to the office, huh?

everything is awesome

  • I have seen The Lego Movie more times than I can count, and yet I still laugh at all the jokes.
  • I started watching The Killing on Netflix. So far I have watched the first 2 episodes.  Addicted.
  • I’m currently reading book #36 of 2014, which was my goal for the entire year. Yay me! It’s called Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng and so far it is fantastic.
  • I had my first rules committee meeting today and it was pretty exciting. I’m excited about work for the first time in a while. This could be a game changer for me.
  • You know you’re a loser when…you get super excited that your pharmaceutical grade Omega-3 capsules show up.  Seriously though, I am noticing a huge difference in my energy levels since I started the fish oil supplements.  It is a little too early to tell, but I think it’s helping my joint inflammation as well.  I’m totally going to be one of those annoying hippie dippy chicks who is like OMG natural remedies for the win, so sorry in advance, but seriously…I can’t even begin to describe how good it feels to be off almost all the drugs I’ve been taking for fucking ever now.
  • I’ve been more productive at work.  I’ve had more energy for cleaning, playing with my kid, and exercising. Everything is coming up Jennifer. I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.
  • I’m running a 10k on Friday morning. This should be interesting.  I haven’t gone more than 4 miles since October.
  • I’m closing the office early tomorrow. I can’t wait to get my weekend started. There is so much awesome planned.

i need direction to perfection

I haven’t done one of these posts in a while. Prepare for all the randomness.

  • I have a really bad cold. I feel faint every time I stand up. Of course, that may have something to do with the lack of eating, and the drinking wine while taking Sudafed. I guess this is why the box says do not drink alcohol while taking this medication.  But when have I ever followed the directions on pill boxes? (Seriously though, when they say don’t drink on Flagyl they actually mean it. I learned that the hard way. Hard way is a nice way of saying I ended up in the ER getting a shot in the ass to stop the puking. You live, you learn.)
  • I can’t decide if I want to do the Komen breast cancer walk this year. I’m quite conflicted. When I go to the site to sign up, I get all teary eyed and close the page. I need to decide very soon.
  • The law firm is crazy. I don’t want to talk about it. Success is good, but also stressful.
  • I’ve read 31 books so far this year. Holy shit. #32 isn’t so great thus far. Any suggestions? What’s the best book you have ever read?
  • Today was National Running Day, but I didn’t get to run, because I’m sick. BOO.
  • June 1st was Cancer Survivor’s Day. That shit kind of pisses me off, but I’m not going to go there right now. I’m too tired.
  • Jackson keeps doing this thing where he yells at me for killing bugs. He says they are “god’s creatures.” I can thank the Jewish school for this nonsense. Motherfucker.
  • Jackson and I have been playing Super Mario Galaxy a lot lately. It’s kind of addictive.
  • Is it pathetic that the highlight of my week will be tomorrow night when I finally get to watch Game of Thrones with the boyfriend?
  • NyQuil is calling my name. Good night.

all the things

  • Masterchef is back. Yay.  Some guy’s specialty is cooking roadkill for dinner. Um…puke.  Beaver tail? No thanks.
  • This was a great weekend. The best I’ve had in a long time.
  • Danielle is on her way to being my new bestie.  We have way too much fun together.
  • My nails look fabulous. Gel french manicure is a major win, as was girls’ afternoon with Danielle and Kristie.
  • I’ve discovered I am now a size 2 dress size.  Fuck yes. My hard work is really paying off.
  • The down side is that I have a lot of dresses to give away, and a lot of stuff I need to buy.
  • I went to a family bbq today and had an excellent time. I need to spend more time with that side of the family.  They are amazing.   I have an invitation to spend the 4th with them, and I think I just might.
  • Week two of rads is completed, and I’m feeling pretty good.  My skin is a little pink and slightly sore, but nothing I can’t handle. I hope it stays that way.
  • I’m running a Memorial Day 5k tomorrow morning (because my trainer is making me). I’m hoping I’ll set a new post-chemo personal record. I’m also hoping it doesn’t rain.
  • I had a consultation for lash extensions, and she said my lashes aren’t long enough yet.  I’m supposed to go back in a month.  (I rocked fake lashes for my big date last night, and I must say I did a pretty good job.  We looked really good. I wish I had gotten a pic.)
  • I got to experience three new places this weekend: Top of the Riverfront, Flying Saucer, and Rooster.  I love exploring St. Louis. I plan to make more of an effort to do so.
  • The Biotin supplements seem to be working.  My eyebrows are really filling in.
  • One week from now I will be watching The Neighbourhood in concert!  I found out today that my cousin and her husband are going too.  This is going to be super fun.Â
